Hi New to Forum - i am looking to start a collection of rolex's ( slowly) , but as far as investment buys go, what models should i be looking at? investment as in 5 -10 years from now, not to wear ( have and wear 2005 GMT 2 ) so hopefully buy with my head not heart.
The ones i like are modern and functional, the ones that currently fetch big dollars seem to have lost thier hands , look like they have been buried in the bottom of the garden since before man set foot on the moon ( but as long as they have red wording on the dial...........)

Welcome and don't of a watch as an investment or you will surely lose money.

It is practically impossible to choose a watch that will be a collectors in the future. I remember when the Milgauss LV first came out. On ebay they were selling for $16,000!!!!
DavidSW just sold on BNIB for $5,900.

Can you imagine if you were one of the ones that paid $16,000? Thinking that they were going to be in low production and now are stuck? No matter how nice the watch is, it would be ruined for me. And every time I looked at it, all I would think about is the money thrown away.

Buy what you like. Look at it as an investment because they last generations. If it goes up in value, then hell, that's even better.

Welcome to TRF!

Have to agree with Pep, "Buy What You Like". The reward is in the ownership, appreciation of value is just a bonus. Besides if you were one of the original owners of a 1019 Milgauss, would you sell it now?
