Well myself don't think its a original bezel insert, but Rolex at this time the 70s did allow several retailers to have special models.Like say for one on sale Cartier, plus there were more like Tiffany. Now with Rolex who knows it could be original bezel insert, just to that Cartier retailer store.

I've never heard of that. The only Cartiers I've seen had black inserts.

Actually it is real. One of my suppliers from Sweden has one; he bought it many years ago from AD. I meet with him quarterly and the watch looks amazing!

Interesting, thanks for the info!! One of the debates that has raged throughout the vintage community is the existence of an all blue Sub said to have been made for the Asian market years ago. I recently saw one advertised by a well respscted vintage dealer here in the U.S. with B&P. Interestingly the watch was priced as a normal pre-owned sub.

I know there was a blue bezel GMT made in the 70s for the foreign market.
I wonder if the service papers with the watch reflect a blue bezel?
Any way thanks for the info--learn something new everyday.

Another interesting point is that up until a few years ago, you could order any Rolex without the cyclops. The AD on the corner has a blue TT sub that he ordered from the factor sans cyclops. It looks pretty cool, actually. I mean, on first glance you'd think it's fake cuz there's no cyclops. Possibly the ultimate stealth TT sub.

I have also heard that the blue bezel/white printing was common on "Cartier/Rolex" watches.

Yeah, This whole thread caused me to go into "research mode" LOL! It's my understanding Rolex supplied Blue bezels to Cartier for the watches.
Cartier seems to be the best of the double name pieces to establish proverance as they maintain/matained? records of these pieces. I'll never know as those are so far over my head photos are as close as I'll ever get!
