Is the SD 4000 really that heavy?
Guys, I'm really starting to lean towards the SD vs. the Sub date. However, I'm been reading comments pertaining to the 'top-heaviness' of the watch. Is it that bad? At this point, it's difficult to find one with any AD around my area, since the Deep Sea replaced it. I wear the GMTIIc now. I know the SD would be much heavier, but to what extent?

once you put it on, you will not feel it ... it is very subtle...

I own both, and it is subtle, but the SD is top heavy and sits "higher" on a wrist. The Sub Date sits noticeably flatter, and is more comfortable (at least for me).

Not heavy at all in my opinion, having both a SD and a Sub, I like the way the SD feels on my wrist more.

The SD comparison to the 16610 is only minor by weight and height!!
Once on your wrist,you wont even know....

Personally I find the SD to be more comfortable than the Sub but of course it's an individual matter which will fit better. It's a little heavier but I don't really notice that on my wrist.

Yes the SD does feel abit top heavy initially whenever I put it on as compared to the Explorer II but the feeling goes away in a few minutes. Not a problem at all, overall a pretty well balanced watch.

For me, it is top heavy and I have to wear it tight. Otherwise, it is flopping all over the place. And yes. . . it does sit high.

SD is comfortable on my wrist
SD is very comfortable on my wrist. You will feel the weight at first but then you won't notice at all. Your shirt sleeves may hang on it if they are tight.

The SDDS for me is like wearing a Panerai.
If you like a 44mm Panerai, I think you will like the SDDS. If you do not like the 44mm Panerai, you probably will not like the SDDS. |

Guys, thanks for the feedback. I think this will be my next purchase because it would contrast my 1st - GMTIIc. I've got a grey dealer selling me a '98 (new but old stock). I may opt for either the D or M series only because it has the better lume & sel.
