Daytona question

This weekend I went in to see my guy at the local AD. I was looking at a couple watches to use as something to motivate me for the year. One of the watches I looked at was a WG daytona with the meterorite dial. It was stunning and after I tried it on, it is near the top of my want list.

While there, another gentleman with a gmt iic was also looking. After my sales guy and I moved on to another model, the other sales person asks the guy with the gmt if he has ever looked at the white gold daytonas. His reply was that he was only interested in Stainless Daytonas. "stainless is much more rare."

At any rate, are stainless more rare? I have seen several stainless in the wild, but have never seen a WG or YG anywhere except TV. It seems to me th gold versions because of price point may be just as rare, just easier to purchase because they move slower. Let me know you thoughts. Personally the available dials of the stainless don't work for me, but think they are nice watches.

SS models are more sought after, usually harder to find, discounted in only extraordinary circumstances and most people have to either wait on a waiting lists for a very long time (1 to 7 years) or wait for a financial tsunami or spend a gargantuan amount of money before they can walk into their dealer and readily buy (there used to be a huge premium like 100%) / find one.
