Repeated shocks bad??
So I have a random question. I enjoy playing a djembe/bongo drum, but I also wear a sub LV. Do you guys think that there could be any possible long-term damage done with the repeated shock of hitting a drum w/ the watch on my wrist? I know that Rolex's are supposed to be incredibly durable and robust, and I am definitely not one to baby my watch. I didn't really even think about this being an issue until I heard about the new hair spring that is supposed to be improved shock absorption on the new subs. Anyway, am I safe to wear my Sub for years while hitting a drum for years? Thanks for the input!

My dad plays golf daily with his AirKing for some time now with absolutely no adverse effects on the poor watch.
![]() However, he's been warned not to use it in activities with a jarring motion. Don't know if that advice is credible since the watch takes a beating and keeps on ticking (sweeping?).

I think that Bongos will subject your watch, any watch, to quite a shock load each time you hit the drum with your hands...
You will subject the movement to a hammering load that can, over time, break pivots, jewels and loosen hands............ This would constitute hard use for any watch and likely result in more frequent service calls......... Why not put it in your pocket during your sessions............ ![]()

First thing that's going to be noticeable is the accuracy of the watch that will start to change

what about riding a motorcycle? I have a DateJust that never leaves my wrist. I never thought about the vibration causing any harm to the watch. Could long rides causes damage?

I believe any mechanical watch will suffer from playing the drums.. .as Larry said.. just remove it so you do not have to pay extra parts on each service...

![]() It's a far different load than the shock loads of slamming your hand and wrist into a solid object, such as bongos, all night long.......... ![]() (get a Harley...the vibration frequency is spaced further apart)
