Tudor Red Rangers.....Let's Talk

There are many who profess that the Tudor Red Ranger never existed..

Others swear that they "had one"...or know somebody who had one..

The facts..
Rangers w/White lettering...Red's in question
34mm
Ref: 9050
mvt: ETA 2784 ?
Date: mid 70's or so..

Here are a couple of photos that I found...Don't know who they belong to, but I question the authenticity of it being a true "Red Ranger", just based on these photos.. I don't believe that a 40 year old dial and case would look like this, and I believe that the back wording was stamped and this appears etched..???

Any Tudor experts who might want to join the discussion..

I do plan to add this to a Reference Library Thread on this model... I already do have a discussion on the oft faked 37mm there...

Anybody care to contribute to this knowledge base ??

Call me nuts, however the letters are stamped into the caseback.

Also here is a photo of a 40 year old Tudor, with the shield, the one posted is a rose?

Lettering on the case back looks fake.

Here are a couple of more photos of this same watch but taken 3 years earlier........

What concerns me here is that the photographer was able to take clear photos of the front and back (let me say here that this is a different set of photos from the ones shown); but the photos of the numbers are in the typical e-bay fashion of obfuscation (but this has yet to be determined). I have enlarged and sharpened the photos for better clarity..

These photos were taken from the public domain (Internet) and are not mine.

Larry, that case is fake. The last set of photos where it is stamped STAINLESS STEEL has the wrong font. The "E's" are incorrect and like those found on other counterfeit cases being produced.

In your first set of pics, the case is not engraved, but etched, which is enough to make it counterfeit. The dial is too new, it is a fake also.

I agree with everything you have said John, and that has been my stated opinion..

Sorry to come in so late, I agree with John on this one, Fake case, Acid etched letting on the caseback and fonts between the lugs are incorrect, as for the movement could be fine but the dial has seen some special attention at some stage, and you know what I mean about Special Attention :-)

Cannot say if a "red" Ranger was ever made , but this case back is definitely fake and we must assume the dial to be as well .
