Seek purchasing advice

I'm in the market for a new Rolex..(still undecided between SS sub and gmt IIc). I would like to purchase in the US through an authorized dealer. The shop I am considering I won't mention the name here, but it is a popular well established shopping mall chain store (you can figure it out..)..A few questions:

1) Does anyone know what the backorder time is typically if I order one of these watches from the factory. I'd like a freshly sealed one, rather than one that has been in the showcase. ?

2) Will I be able to negotiate a discount through a chain store ? Judging from the prices I see in mail order dealers, it would seem to me that at least 10% would be possible given margin..

Any experience here appreciated..

Not quite sure about #1, but getting discounts on the SS models is rather tough. Maybe you might be able to get one over 10% on the sub, because of it's being discontinued soon. But maybe not as well, it's all up to the ADs logic. Yes, you can negotiate a discount from a chain, but don't expect a huge one on the GMTIIC it's a very popular model, especially in SS.

I went into a authorized dealer last week in SF and they showed me both watches,,

They quoted me list price for the SS GMT, but I didn't try to negotiate a price at that point as I am still pondering what I'm going to buy.

The dealer did say that they are expecting the new SS Sub in September time frame, but I am looking to buy one sooner.

These watches may be in the showcases or stored in the safes. Hard to tell if it is fresh from the factory.

You can negotiate, depending on the popularity of the model, some good discounts at your local ADs. If you are not pleased with the locals, drive out of State and visit other ADs and save on the tax by having the watch shipped to you....

If the initials are BB, I wish you the best of luck! If you are in NorCal, shoot me a PM and I can give you my AD's number. I know he has both models you mentioned in stock.

You should check out the FS section here, since you can't go wrong with a lot of great deals to be had!

Either buy from a reputable out of state AD, if you ask - you will get PMed the info or a good AD taking cash to forgo taxes (depending on where in CA you are from, that can mean extra 8-10% off) because it is your first purchase.

Or you can try the FS here, several sellers here are good too.
