1986 GMT Fat Lady Question.
I was wondering if someone could tell me what the correct bracelet model is for this specific watch? I currently have one with a 93150 that I bought off someone and was wondering if that was the original bracelet or aftermarket. Thanks in advance.

From what I have learnt on this forum the 93150 was originally a Submariner bracelet that became popular due to its flip lock clasp that was not available on the 78360 oyster bracelet which, if I remember correctly, was the bracelet originally offered with all GMT's.
It seems as if a variety of bracelet options were offered in various countries too as my 71 GMT came with a 93150. |

Interesting Terry thanks for the history. I just recently started working in a jewelery store where I sell rolex watchs and have been trying to read and learn allot about the history so I can tell customers about the watch they might interested in. Thanks again.

As said, the 93150 was offered with the GMT for quite a while, although it is almost impossible to know if it came originally with one on any particular watch without the original build paper. I too have a 1997 GMT with an original equipment 93150.
It certainly wouldn't be "aftermarket", which would imply a non-Rolex part..

As stated the 93150 is a correct option. Some GMT collectors will opt for the 78360 with 501s though as some feel it's closer to the flagpole.

Thanks Tools what I was implying when I said aftermarket was if the band was from another watch like a Sub or something. I just finished ready the Rolex Report by John E. Brozek and thought i remember in the book (I'm probably wrong its been known to happen lol) him refering to aftermarket as like you said not official rolex parts or a watch containing parts that may have been swapped with another model.

Well seeing as you're in learn mode, here's some more for you to digest...
The 93150 was introduced in 1971 and replaced the 9315 which was eventually phased out around 1974/75. It has been used on the Sea Dweller, Submariner, Explorer II and GMT Master with end link numbers 501, 501B, 580 and 593 (in no specific order). |
