I say if you are into history and exploring get the Vintage Explorer 1.
IF you do a lot of travel, or need to tell time in two different areas get the GMT II. Probably the GMT II would be best overall. |

Hello Alex
I didn't vote because your selection is too varied with respect to price. A DJ may set you back around US$2,000-$4,000, whereas a vintage Daytona will cost around US$30,000, and the rest fall somewhere in between. Since it's based on whether your Dad can afford it or not, I would say that a vintage Daytona won't be in the "choice". The question is, which one do YOU like the most? Good luck. John. |

I had to vote GMT, Alex. Several reasons. First, it's my very favorite watch.
Second, I think you may be a bit young for your other choices. Third, the Daytona and vintage Daytona are probably out of your price range. Fourth, the blue sub is perhaps too much bling at your age. Fifth, the DJ may be a bit dressy for you at this point. And, finally, the vintage Exp may be in the same price range as the Daytona. So to get back to the first point, you're left with my favorite watch - the GMT-II.

They are all great watches. You must ultimately decide. Since money may be an issue the decision may be already made for you. Again anyone of the watches you listed are great, good luck.

Hi Alex,
I naturally voted for the TT Blue Sub, but the SS DJ with WG bezel on Jubilee and a Roman dial would also be an excellent choice. JJ

If I it were possible for me to get the equivalent of a £20,000 vintage daytona for my 14th birthday I would have taken it, no questions asked.
The mind boggles though as to what he will have to get you for your 18th, to top it. A Patek 5970, perhaps?

Have to agree on this one. At 13 you should be quite happy with a SEIKO!!

Have to agree with this. But I say this not knowing you. You may be a very mature 13. So I will not say it is out of the question. But I would suggest getting a seiko, or even a nice used Omega quartz. They can be had for well south of $1K. Learn to take care of it, not lose it, and not let anyone take it away from you. (the last one could happen to any one of us, but you need to be aware of where you flash a watch.) After you get comfortable with a nice watch, after a few years jump up to a Rolex. Not only will you be ready for it, but you will appreciate it so much more. If it is a Rolex you must have. I would say get an older date, precision or AK. Bargains can be found. It will fit you better too. |

I voted GMT II.
But, given your age an EXP I might fit you better. I'm assuming this is a special occassion watch? When I was 13, I would not have worn something like this in the school yard. But then again that just my take. Good luck on the choice. |

Dude to be honest, I'm 18 years old and even I am still pretty young for a rolex... I mean i think you'd feel pretty bad wearing a watch that is 1/3 what a teacher makes in a year... In highschool i felt bad whenever i had to take a nice car to school. Try to be a bit subtle and wait a few more years... it will mean a whole lot more once u get it.

I have to agree with vic. I'm 27 and I just bought my first Rolex. You should wait and buy it yourself and realize that you will appreciate it more that way.

If you are really 13... i suggest you buy a folex :)
at that age, anything you wear will look cool... after awhile, the "coolness" runs out, you may just chuck it away... Wear a folex to make sure you can keep wearing it and take care of it like a real baby.... jsut my 2 cents worth...

If he's buying what the hell take what your gunna get. If he can't afford it then why put your father out, this sounds a little selfish. By the way you may want your own first car or go to college too. |

Ask your dad to start a college account or add to it with your birthday money.
Like AJ says, buy your own Rolex,.. when you graduate and have a lucrative profession |
