Not sure. Based on serial number data (20xxxxx), I believe it is somewhere around 40. Have no papers so can't be sure.

2 Tudors.
A large rose manual wind, probably 40-50 yrs old and Prince auto date that would be about 40 years old. Both are still running strong.

No, but that's not saying that I don't want one... The oldest one I have is barely drinking age in comparison.

My Rolex British military pocket watch is from around 1940, and Nancy's vintage is from the mid 1950's. My oldest watch of all isn't a Rolex, but my English fusee pocket watch, circa 1865.

No. I would be tempted with a vintage Daytona at anything approaching a sensible price.

Nice old timer John, and at these times right into the mid 20s only about 1 in every five leaving the Rolex factory had the name Rolex on dial. Most were blank so the watch store retailer could put there name on dial. And perhaps movement was stamped or sometimes even a sticker inside case back with the RWC name. Now when the oyster case came in then all oyster cased watches bore the Rolex name.

Cash strapped

Having spent R 2000.00 ( $300.00) to give the watch a much needed service, which did wonders for the watch, I didnt have another R 6 300 ( $ 900.00) for a original braclet, Unfortunately South Africa has a very poor rate of exchange.

Thanks for the clarification Padi.

I just walked into a bric-a-brac auction literally 10 minutes before it started and saw that watch.

The dial is in very good condition, as well as the quality of the dial markings (that's what caught my attention). I popped the back open and saw Rolex on the movement as well as various markings on the inside of the case.

I can't remember exactly how much I paid for it, but it was around A$250.

It runs great and only loses very little time.

Yes quite a few of the old dials were damage especially the porcelain ones with the reaction of the paint name put on by the retailers. Now when I found my silver Unicorn at a boot sale.I more or less new what it was just paid my £5 and I was gone double quick. And when I got home opened her up sure enough nice Unicorn movement fully signed. And with several service marks scratched on to the silver case back. With prices ranging from 13p and dates
from the early 30s to mid 50s.Now they all looked like they was done by same hand, and there was two initials and a name.So one day put the name into a UK google search and it came up as a Jewellers shop.I rang the shop and asked about the initials and name, the owner said that was his Fathers initials and name, and was the owner watchmaker of the store. He retired late 50s but died early 70s so I must assume watch was either bought there or just serviced there.
