16613

I think thats this models designation. How much to pay for a lightly used one?
Can anyone comment on how many ounces of gold rolex actually use in these?
I know there suppose to be solid but at $680 a ounce I cant believe rolex can get 3 ounces to make the whole watch.

The 16613 is the TT Submariner. It weighs 150 grams as compared with 135 grams of the SS version.

The extra 15 grams of gold actually equates to around 30 grams of actual gold content in the watch. Don't ask me how I worked that out 'cause I didn't. It was worked out by some other guy on another forum a long time ago.

Now 30 grams is around one ounce of gold. So that's the amount of gold you actually get with the watch.

I know you pay an extra $2650 or so for the TT version, but that's just the way it works!!

The TT models will always be comparatively more expensive than the SS ones.

Cheers - JJ

While I belive this its hard for me to imagine how one once of gold 1 5/8 inches (41 mm.) tall and 15/16 inches (24 mm) wide can be enough to make a whole watch the thing has to be capped!!!

Wow how do you guys find these prices? You cant touch these things for less than $6000 on ebay. At that price Ill just go to the AD and pay the $7800. I have my eye on this watch but is seems kind of fishy and the clasp is incorrect.

I wouldn't want to "touch one" sold on ebay-or any other Rolex sold on ebay as far as that goes.

The description says that this is a Rolex "oyster style" bracelet

No gold on the clasp.

It's the older style TT Sub. The gold is 18 K, but does not run through the clasp. Also note the non-SEL bracelet with the butterfly extensions of the end links (between the lugs).

Another point of interest to note is the bracelet part number. You'll find it inscribed under the very first link (as seen in the picture above).

Today's SEL bracelets do NOT have this part number in that position. Instead you will find it inside the SEL link, but in order to see it you have to take off the bracelet.

See pic below...

The watch is not made form anm ounce of gold, Tony...
On these two tone watches, the gold goes into the crown / bezel / center links / hands and marker surrounds. The case of the watch is still SS.
