Hello: My first post, and a new watch, too!

Hi, folks:

I have been lurking around the Rolex Forums for some time and have just registered today. I am a former owner of a SS DJ, which I sold about 13 years ago because my wife and I were poor and we needed the money. Since then, things have improved dramatically. I have been looking for a his/her combination of Rolexes for my wife and me, now that I have been promoted at work. They would be a symbol of our success in work, in life and in marriage.

After reviewing this forum, I settled on getting new watches, and definitely from an AD. Today we went shopping. While I did not find a DJ for me that I liked, my wife fell in love with a two-tone non-date. (She preferred it to the DJ.) It was last year's model and I believe I got a very good deal from the AD. I am so happy for my wife. The watch looks beautiful on her.

I will keep looking for my SS DJ. I think I will go for this year's model, however.

If I can figure out how to post a picture I will do so.

Anyway, there is no better group to share this day with. Thanks for all your good advice in the Forums; it helped out tremendously.

Welcome and Congrats!

I bought my wife a ladies DJ the first year we were married (1977). It's been through a lot and has a lot of memories. She still gets a kick out of putting it on.

Welcome to TRF, and that's a great objective for a couple. I managed to get this "matching set" going for my wife and me (I bought my DJ first, then got one for Gwen to match later, as a retirement gift for her):

Mine:

Hers:

The Datejust is a great suggestion for a matching set (to start with). Best of luck in making your decision!
