Wanting GMT, anyone know a good AD?

Wanting to purchase a Red/Black GMT II before leave on my travels. Anyone know of an AD who has one and is willing to sell to me for 10% or more off the MSRP? If you do, please PM me. Thanks.

Have you thought about buying Grey market? Swissluxury.com is pretty good. I've purchased from them before. Besides, if you call them, he may add on a special discount.

Explain to me more abou the Grey Market. You buy from them you still get all the papers, etc.. But no warranty paper? So if anything goes wrong with the watch first 2 years, you will have to PAY $$ tot he RSC to have it fixed? How do they get their watches and then sell cheaper than a AD?

Sorry, I don't know any AD's in the USA, but the red/black is a great combination. If you wait until after Basel and a new GMT is released, you might be able to do better on price, but maybe not. Also the current GMT has no holes in the case lugs so that's a nice feature too. You know you can't go wrong with any GMT model, good luck.

Well, I did contact the AD I saw in El Paso a couple of weeks ago. They have a D Series GMT II. List is $5075. They offered me a 5% discount. Think I can do better. Still that is not too bad, since I would be saving 6.5% IN or 8.5% TX sales tax. I really want to keep the price down to around $4500 if I can find it.

As far as I'm aware the Grey Market dealers get their watches 2 ways. Yes, you don't get a warranty (you still get the paperwork), but all of my watches have not needed anything in the 1st 2 years. I figure the savings over an AD buying from a grey market dealer makes up for having to send it in for repairs. However, you get a brand new watch with everything. So they either get the watches from Hong Kong where there is no sales, import, or other taxes. The second way is through ADs that are having problems selling certain models (as far as I'm aware).

Chad,

If you are coming to Singapore, there a few stores you can call up on. Hour Glass or Cortina.

I happen to be "shopping around" for a GMT II as well (leaning more to the TT). AFAIK, the list is S$7,444 for the 16710 (1 Greenie = 1.55 SG $). Usually, they would give around 10-15% off the list price for the Red/Black bezel. Offer to pay cash, you might do better.

However, 20% discount is also not impossible as Dave has mentioned above.

Good luck.

PS: as you are a tourist (I am assuming), you might get your 5% GST on the way out.
