Root Beer question
Happy Sunday,
I have been spending a lot of time lately looking over Root Beers. I was never a huge fan but now I am fastly growing into one. My one question to the owners would be, does light reflect too much off the face? In some pictures it seems it does to the point of not being able to read the text. Any help would be appreciated. (this is also a selfish request for some pics!) |

The dial on the Rootbeer GMT can, at times, be a bit difficult to read. But... The beauty of the dial MORE than makes up for this slight deficiency. I am including a couple of photos of mine for you to see what I mean. I love it, if that holds any weight in the matter. One unique GMT!!

You're welcome. I'm happy that you are looking into a Rootbeer purchase. A very distinctive Rolex, and destined for greater heights of collector status in the future.

Other than the hour markers are there any other major differences between standard dials and nipple dials on these?

This is a good link that explains the GMT transitions as well as anyone could. Keep in mind that the "Rootbeer" is just model variation much like the "Pepsi" or "Coke" color combo's. I believe the "Rootbeer" was phased out in the late 1990's

I understand the Rootbeer was still around as a D serial
PS Here's a 2001 P serial |

Not at all
I don't think the texture of the dial is a distraction at all. I think it gives the watch a very distinctive luxurious quality!
