Advice on selling wife's older DJ

I realize that there have been lots of posts on selling watches, as I've read them over the last year. They have been in regard to the men's models which are way more popular.

I recently purchased my wife a beautuiful new TT Datejust that she loves. Now she is not wearing her older (22 years) TT Datejust and, despite my urging her to keep it as her "beater" watch, she insists she won't use it and wants me to sell it.

I would like to sell, via the for sale forum, but have never done this.

1. Is there a market for the women's models?
2. What would be a fair price for a her watch with papers, no box, she lost the extra links, serviced by Rolex two years ago (no papers but have Rolex box sent from RSC)?

3. How can I do this safely?

Thanks for you help

Not a huge interest on this site from what I have seen.

You can try ...take good photos. I cannot see you getting too much for it. Get a bank wire or PayPal. Might be tough if you are not a regular seller.

An alternative is your local craigslist...but fair warning there. You may also take it to a local 2nd hand jeweler.

I think the value is approx $1500- maybe $1800 w/ orig and RSC papers. Recent RSC papers will help alot, as they authenticate your watch and confirm it wont need a costly service soon.

Bill is right - not much buying/selling for ladies watches on this forum - but there is demand.
Take REAL GOOD pictures (like you see here) and follow an ad format used by the professional sellers here. Offer to meet face to face at an AD. Offer a 3 day return privelege. These terms can create confidence. Have you bought or sold on Ebay? That is part of your past and can build an ID of your past transactions.

Be careful with the funding part. A cash transaction is best, followed by bank wire, then pay pal only with Verified status.
Good luck

Due to your post count being on the lower side, I would also try contacting one of the TRF good guys, the big name sellers directly and perhaps they would be interested in buying from you??? Save you the hassle and get it sold. Perhaps also the AD you purchased your new one from if you went to an AD...

Try selling it here at TRF using the format others use. If that doesn't work out, you may want to try the TimeZone Community Sales Corner - Items below 5K:
http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...d=0#msg5546740

You will find that some of our Trusted Sellers here also sell on TZ.

Best of luck,

A very good suggestion to consider; daughter, niece, good friend. They are kind of "heirloom" pieces and could make someone close very happy!
