Submariner 14060M

Hey Rolex-Heads!

What are your thoughts on the 14060M models? I've heard dfferent opinions about the older(clean dial) ones having no COSC markings/etc.

What are your takes on this model?

Thanks!

they are all good.....some may prefer the non cosc, less writing....some may prefer
COSC certification.......I just like that this model still has lug holes!

Except for a few fonts all the 14060M are the same only differnce now they are COSC tested but exactly the same movement. Myself prefer the non COSC dial, the COSC test today is IMHO just purely marketing.

I agree...I just liked that it's the last "classic" style Rolex that I could still get new and under warantee (mine's from Dec 2009) and still has lug-holes and the good bracelet. BTW...to all the guys who love the all solid bracelet...That used to be the way to tell a fake. It's easy to drill holes in solid steel and make a heavy solid bracelet, it's also easy to make a folded/stamped bracelet, but to make those thick outer, "solid-hollow" lightweight center links has always been something that only Rolex could do right. 14060M, whether COSC or not, is a killer watch. So, do I get my danged Curmudgeon Card yet, or what??

Well said, that man!!!

I'm sure The Doc will welcome you to the Curmudgeons with open arms!
As head of security, though, I must warn you... If you ever go ceramic you'd better be prepared to never spend two nights in the same place again...!

I like the four line dial, but that's just me.

It annoys me when I here all the 'it's more of a tool watch with the cleaner dial' malarkey.

Comex added a huuuge logo to theirs, the MoD added a big Circle T to theirs and a lot of real vintage subs had the four line dial...
Something tells me that Comex divers and the Swimmer Canoeists of the S.B.S. would have complained had their dials been too cluttered! (and, in the case of the latter, Rolex would have been well advised to listen!).

No worries..Ceramic's fer terlit bowls and sparkplugs only as far as I'm concerned.

I like the COSC dial, too..It's the same as Steve McQueen used to look at, dammit.

So, with this, and a fine welcome from The Doc, I add my newly acquired signature..

Your Explorer II is a fine curmudgeonly watch... Better still if it has lug holes!

The 14060M has everything that is right about Rolex.
IMO it has kept the true spirit of the early Sub's, and still has the convenience of a modern watch.
You just gotta love that clean look, rattly bracelet, lug holes and slim case.
Here's mine:

One of the most comfortable watch to wear, I can wear it 24/7.

I go for the COSC version because I like the dial better and the watch is more recent.

And one of the main reason, beside the being close to the history of Submariner, is the lug holes (in modern Rolex)

My 116610 has invisible ceramic lug holes, only I can see them, stealthy.

It's the simplicity itself!!
A classic. I prefer the SCOC edition.
Here´s a photo of my 14060M that I took a minutes ago, as I was reading this tread.

This is going to be my next Rolex. Gotta have a sub in my collection and this is it. Classic looks, symmetrical dial, and no cyclops.

I know that the 14060 and 14060M are of different movement. One is the 3000 and the other a 3130 (correct me if I am wrong). In term of robustness. Is there any different? Maybe those who truly wear them as "work" watch can help to answer?

I am asking is because the best bet would to get the newer movement with the older look. Both in the world.

And is there a submariner with a 3135 movement? I remember reading it somewhere. But I understand the 3135 is in the EX II.

I've got a 14060M... Can't vouch for the non-M but mine certainly works for a living with no problem at all!

Can't bite my tongue any longer: A sea of ceramics? Numbers-wise there are WAY more non-ceramic subs out there, and anyone who suffers by buying a new ceramic is living in a fantasy world. Funny joke

On a side not, I really do like the 14060M and feel a bit of resentment because my bank account knows it's coming (+ a 5513 or 1680 shortly afterwards).
