Can my RSC do this for me?

Hi TRF,

I have a 16800 sub 8.7m series that has some nice patina developing along nicely. Would RSC be able to re-lume the original dial while perserving the patina or would they simply stick a 16610 luminova dial on my 16800?

I would prefer to keep the original dial even if it means doing without lume.

Wouldn't a re-lume kill the cherished vintage - patina look that is so much in demand? Pic?

RSC will simply change the dial.
Just keep it the way it is

Relume the dial? No.
Replace the dial? Definitely. And there is no going back.

If I had the choice, I will not have changed the dial on my 6694. Original dials are lovely.

They cannot re-lume the dial. Health and safety regulations do not allow for tritium or any other radioactive material to be used anymore.

I bet it is more beautiful now than it would be re-dialed. Share a picture when you get a chance.

Thanks guys. I was wondering because I read somewhere that the markers could have superluminova added w/o altering the patina look. Maybe I got that part wrong. Thanks though!

I have a watchmaker friend who worked at Rolex and he told me that if the lume started to flake off of your dial while rolex was servicing it, they would have to mix a bit of lume to match your patina and fix the dial. So they do have the capacity to do this, but they might only use it to save themselves if they damage your lume.
