Explorer-II DIAL preference - White or Black?

Simple poll guys....merely to ascertain which of the two dials is more popular.

Please vote with comments - thanks. I voted for white.

Cheers - JJ

Black, but white is a close second in my book. Both are classy!

I voted black... Of all the Exp-II's I've seen, only crossed paths with one black faced. Based on uniqueness alone, that is why I chose black. The other is, one of my bosses owns a white faced Exp-II. On the wrist, from an outside perspective, the watch just doesn't say anything special to me, vanilla. JMHO...

White of course ! If I'd been after a black face, I think a GMTII would have been my choice.

Once you go black, you'll never go back!

Black all the way! Probably because its my first and only rolex so far. I love the stainless steel bezel! Not a big fan of multi-colored bezels, hence I avoided the gmt II.

This question is relative, I guess... Is it 'compared to' or 'which do you like better'...? If you already own a black faced sports Rolex, I would expect one to choose white in that it's different. But what if you don't own any other Rolex? Does the white or black dial look most attractive to you on this watch? Which question is it, relative or absolute?

White for me too. Reason - same as many have said, I have other black dial Rolex's. BUT ALSO - That dial is not just white, it is the most beautiful white one could imagine. One of the many things Rolex does superbly is create beautiful, rich, saturated colors. This is just one more example.

JJ, it looks like you're at the beginning stage of causing a white Exp.ll stampede. You did it with the TT Blue Sub, now this. This I will say - you always point in the right direction!

Running the concurrent pictures from Jon and Chris backwards and forwards for a few minutes......it just has to be black.
But I am a fully paid up member of the Black Face Club already !!!!

I wold choose white also

I would/will choose white here, since I have 2 black dialed Rolexes, the GMT II and the Sea Dweller.

The other Chris (Blue Bull) described the white of this watch as being brilliant, and in the sun having an almost diamond-like brilliance. I really like what Larry wrote, which is that Rolex does colours very well and that the level of saturation in this white dial is exceptional.

An unusual model in this price and material range for Rolex. One I think is soon to be on the chopping block or the change design block.

Best,

Chris

White dialed Exp II absolutely!

Here's my take on it..

The Good:
The white dial makes the dial look bigger, and given the smaller outer diameter of the bezel (compared to say subs or gmts), white wins hands down

The Bad:
At night or in low light condition, it's a little hard to see the time at first glance

The Ugly:
JJ's goin for another 'fix' in his addiction problem

I was in Des Moines yesterday and went to visit my favorite Rolex AD. He had both the black and white faced Explorer II in stock. Yes, I checked out the white one. I think it looks great. I would go with the white face watch.
