Declaring Independence of my Caseback: Sub-C Edition

You've all seen this mod before, but I wanted to post the 116610 edition

What could it be?

Ahhh....let's get to work

Gotta clamp it down!

A cheap tool but it gets the job done...

Let's get to work...

Finally, the caseback is off!

A personally edited shot of the movement...

And here with clear caseback installed

On a nato: normal at first glance

Turn it over and something seems different

And fully exposed:

One more with bracelet:

Hope you enjoyed and happy belated 4th of July!

Nice Job, may want to remember to pressure test first if considering using it in water.

Very nice and well done. I bought one for my GMTIIc from Mr. Thomas Preik last year but still have not put it on yet, just don't have the tools and experience like most of you guys.

Thanks everyone, and it wears identical to the original caseback, it's hard to tell a .5mm or whatever it is difference

Who says the 3135 mvts aren't nicely finished! Don't you see the jeweling on that tiny little part there? :)

Nice job. Do you put fomblin on the gasket before putting the case back back on? How do you know how hard to torque it? I recall something about fig newtons. :)

X2. I think the NATO looks great. I really like those clear case backs. Was there any trouble with customs?(did you have to pay brokerage, duty, etc?

I marked off the original caseback where the crown is fully closed and also marked the clear caseback at the very start of the threads, not sure if that makes sense. And I didn't bother regreasing the o ring, it is a 5 month watch after all and was still very greasy, would b overkill IMO. And I have to agree, the movement is no Patek but it's also not priced like one - I quite like it. Problem is, when the watch is on my wrist, I stare at the dial and when it's off, I stare at the movement!

Nope, didn't have to pay anything, maybe I got lucky though. I had it shipped to my US address if that helps

Very cool mod. I love clear casebacks. I have an Omega Speedy Pro with a clear caseback aka the sapphire sandwich. I will do this mod some time down the road on my Daytona.
