Clasp Re-Brushing ?

Does anyone have any recomendations for the best way to re-brush a sea dweller clasp without taking off any of the clasp's coronet? (excluding having it professionally done)

I would wait until you turn the watch in for it's service. Polishing is a part of the service. Personally I wouldn't want to experiment with any other means which might result in something less than desireable results.

It is already less than desirable (the previous owner did some so so work) and the watch wont need servicing for quite some time. Any other suggestions out there?

Have you checked with an AD to see how much it would cost? It might not be that expensive, however the resulting worth might really be worth it.

No. I haven't. I have had work done in the past but it never seems to turn out the way I requested. All I need done is to add a touch of the brushed wood grain(?) finish back and dull it down a little. I don't want to have a tech put it under a wheel and hand it back to me missing half the crown on the clasp.

cut it to size and cover the coronet before brushing the clasp. A pain in the u-know-what but it saves the coronet from being GONE ...

I have a feeling you may be over-thinking this a bit. A couple swipes and it will be good as new. Just be sure to brush in one direction in straight even strokes. The coronet on the clasp will be fine.

Rolex really messed up the coronet on my Air King when I sent it in for service. ALWAYS specify "DO NOT POLISH CLASP" when you send in a watch.

Amazing that they can do such a great job servicing and polishing a watch, then turn around and ruin their own insignia on the clasp....
