EXP 2 Black, white or Green?

Went my AD yesterday to look at the new Explorer II

Looked at both black and white dial variant's............

I have always been of the opinion that a professional Rolex sports watch should have a black dial I know this is a matter of taste.

I have looked at all the images of the watch on line and slowly began to think the white version is in fact much nicer than the black.

Now that I have placed both on my wrist I have to say that I still believe black is best!!

The white dial on the watch I tried on had a pale slightly cream tone to it, I felt that the orange text on the dial appeared a little washed out.

I was also quite suprised that the watch did not appear that large on my wrist and was very comfortable to wear.

Today I am off to collect my black dial Exp II But............

The AD has a Ceramic Green Sub LV in the window which is also smiling at me a great deal!

What would you guys buy?

Will the Explorer go the way of the older 40mm version and become the underdog in the range?

I am a bit undicided this will be my one and only Rolex to keep

Regards

Sean

I'd opt for the Green LV-C.

I know I would have gotten a LV-C if my AD would have had one when I bought my Nexpy2.

I've had the LVc for over a year now and picked up a black Exp II 42mm earlier in the week and if I could only have one I'd choose the LVc. Both are amazing watches but the glidelock clasp, more interesting green dial and glossy looking ceramic bezel just push me towards the sub.

Good luck in your choice.

Tough one.

One of the 216570 and a 116610LV would be a great pick up IMO.

As an only Rolex I'd go for the black exp II 42.

Much more versatile IMO....the LVC is a stunning watch but not as the one and only.

if you were to choose just one Rolex, might as well get the Green Sub LV.

Why worry what others think?

You'll get opinions from both sides, besides you'll be wearing it.

Get the one that you fancy the most, whether that be the EXPII or the SubC LV.

I am biased but Green Sub for sure!!

I also used to think that a daily Rolex should have a black dial but once I saw and handled the LVC, it changed my whole perception.
I wear mine more than any other watch and have had a look at the new Exp2 but would never consider swapping my Sub for one.
Good luck. Both are terrific watches.

The asking price for explorer does not justify! might as well get the gmt master if you need 24hr hand... The LVC is a great looking watch!

I would go green. I agree with your observation about the black Exp 2 looking better than the white, but I think the green LV looks even nicer.

In that situation, I would go with that Black Exp II. The LV is not a daily wearer in my opinion

If you like a green watch then Sub LV. I'll go with the ExpII if it were me.

Of those? None. I'd get the 40mm white Explorer II and the non-ceramic LV. :-)

Agreed......

Both are great watches, but worlds apart in looks!
Go for the one you think will be more pleasing to wear....
