New Camera, First Shots...

After much deliberation, I bit the bullet... Nikon D80. Still working my way around it. Having color balance problems w/my halogen lighting .
Oh well, part of the learning curve...

Thanks guys... I'm still developing my 'bag-o-tricks' when it comes to watch shots. I prefer a little drama in my shots and try to use the full range of dark to light. I'll post more as I get them. Really enjoying the new D80. It's the real deal...

Been away for a few days... thanks for the comments. I'm having a great time with my new 'toy'. Predictably, Nikon just announced their new D300 and D3 models boasting some ground breaking, pretty incredible specs. Fortunately, both are beyond my price point and the D80 should serve fine for years to come.

I'm pretty sure I was using the Nikon 'kit' lens, an 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G DX ED II AF-S, blah, blah, blah...

Focal Length: 55mm
Mode: P
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/4 sec.
Aperture: f/5.6
Compensation: -1/3 step
WB: Custom

All the shots were taken using a Quantaray portable light box and a pair of 50w halogen lights. I've been playing with shooting in NEF (RAW) format lately... Significant improvement over JPG. I'll have to do another session using RAW and see what I can come up with. Unfortunately, I noticed my bracelet has some light scuffing action going on. I have no idea how, never brushed up against anything that I know of... Oh well, better get those glamour shots quick before age takes it's toll on my new/old friend...
