Damaged Case
Sadly my Breitling was hit by my wife's keys and took some damage to the case.
I'm sure I can have the case replaced during a service but when I brought it to an AD they said that a servicing would be close to $700 and didn't have a price for the case. The watch isn't due for a service for another couple of years and I was pretty shocked at the price. Damn near half of what I paid for the watch (new). Does anyone know where else I might be able to get the case replaced? The ding is near the 12 o'clock, right beneath the "5" on the bezel... Many thanks. Scott |

Isn't the ding you are refering too on the bezel and not the case just a hair left of the five
And yes, I just had a Breitling serviced and it was $650 plus tax, $715 total, yikes |

Yup that is the ding, but it isn't on the bezel, that would be so much cheaper if it was. It is on the case.

If you think 700 for the service is high, you may want to sit down when they tell you the cost of a replacement case....It'll probably be close to the purchase price of the watch originally~!
Personally, I think you should accept it for what it is and think of it as a bit of character...Your individual touch on the watch so to speak!! Edit: Looking a little closer at your pic, I'm thinking the damaged part is most likely a bezel retaining ring. Much like a Rolex, but exposed instead of hidden. I have been wrong before!

I was told by the AD that it was part of the case, but then this person was not the watchmaker but a desk clerk.
I've been trying to Google the watch and hopefully find a parts list or something else, but not having any luck. I have taken the watch to my watchmaker contacts in the city, but not of them work on Breitlings. All say that they can't get the parts. Any ideas on how to confirm which part it is? Many thanks again. Scott |

It's just a little ding, just enjoy the wabi and watch! My superocean has one in about the same spot and it hasn't bothered me in 10+ years! If you wear them like most do these little things happen and a new case for a ding???

I would suggest checking with Craig of Chronodeco, he's on the Breitlingsource forums and I have seen that he does impressive work for the forumers there in the vintage section, he might be able to do yours too, you need to check with him.

If I'm looking at the right place, the desk clerk didn't know what he/she was talking about (not unusual at an AD). That's on the bezel, not the case. And like others have said, not worth worrying about IMHO.

Def check out www.Breitlingsource.com, those guys are on it over there and they will have an answer.
You can always send it to Connecticut to their repair facility as a last resort, but I'm sure there has to be and AD around there that can give you some better guidance. I think it's in the bezel or the retaining ring, but unless it drives you crazy I would just leave it and remind the wife when you need something |

I tried calling a Breitling Service Center today and they said that they don't quote prices over the phone and that I'd have to send it in. Didn't even given me a hint as to what a service or a case costs.

I believe dings add character. I would leave it. Many more dings to come.

$700 for service on a ETA movement? Has Breitling lost their mind?
