Christie's Watch Auction

Just thought I'd let anyone know who is interested, Christie's is having a watch auction on Oct 17. Viewings are Oct 11-16. And yes, there are some rolexes i've never seen before!

http://www.christies.com/features/oc...1/overview.asp

Also a Christie's-sponsored multi-page article on watches in the Wall St. Journal wkend edition (section A).

It's always interesting to see what new benchmarks come out of these auctions.

Mike, but see my new post about a front page WSJ article today on auction fraud by Omega and Patek:
http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=23748

Please note: this fraudulent auction behavior doesn't apply to Christie's auctions - Christie's are legitimate auctions.

I did see that, and couldn't agree more. One wonders how much shill bidding goes on.

All auction houses (in general) use techniques that are not allowed or non ethical ...

Why would anyone purchase a watch that is sold "as is", without any warranty, or opportunity to take it to a watch maker to check out? That's how the auction houses sell watches... Be afraid, be very afraid...
