The ones that got away...

Starting from last November 2004, here are the pics of my watches that got away.... ...in this very same order!!

Starting with the GMT-II (sorry, Ed) which was replaced by the white Exp-II.

Then the white Exp-II....

The white Exp-II went only to be replaced by this...

At one stage, I had THREE...the TT Blue Sub, the SD and the OMEGA PO...

Then, one day I knocked off BOTH - the TT Blue Sub and the SD for this beauty...

and the OMEGA PO went only to be replaced by this...

So my present tally is...

I totally agree. There’s a strange yearning in my heart, a lingering feeling. Wass man liebt, dass neckt sich. I never made a secret of the fact I liked this watch. But seeing it 3000 times is a bit too much!

Frans.

LOL!! This week you mean.

I really have no regrets about any watch that I have moved along to another happy home. There has never been a watch that is out of reach that I could not replace if I really wanted to.

Great pics JJ.

Not being a flipper, I have to say that NONE has gotten away from me. I still have every watch I have ever bought (well except one Casio that my son coveted so he wears it now and loves it), even the ones that stopped working years ago. What can I say. I can't part with any watch.

I've got a few more to sell, then short of a severe financial distress where it's either starve or sell watches, the rest stay! I've really grown tired of all the flipping and changing focus. I'm back to Rolex and I'm staying here

I can't say that I am at either point yet. I have a certain amount of money tied up in watches, and in order to keep myself happy, it is flipping that must occur. Although I have slowed way down, I have had the same collection for almost two weeks.

You keep your watches almost as long as JJ does. That's pretty good.

I really don't have any emotional attatchment to any of the watches, except the YM. I do love them all, but I also don't have the disposable income to keep too many, so if one is not getting any love, or another might get more love, I jump.

They are just watches afterall and they could be replaced if desired, in fact some of them might be eventually.

Daren, I agree wholeheartedly. You and I are very much the same. I have to scrap and finagle to get new watches. That's why I've flipped so many. As interests changed, I had to let watches go. I just don't want to do it anymore, because 1) I always loose money, and 2) I realize how much I miss some of the ones that are gone.

It's true most of them can be replaced, but for instance, I doubt I'll ever own another Breguet. The one I had was one of the few great deals I've made, not to happen again in all likelihood.

So, I plan to stick tight with the ones we're keeping. I'll have two really nice ones and so will Tam. As we get on our feet in the UK, we may find others, but they will come with cash rather than trades.

I do all my watch deals in cash, so I stick to a certain amount in my mind. I don't want to go over that amount. I like to buy things for Andie and Dylan more than for myself. Plus I don't want watches that I don't ever wear, not my style to have things just sitting around. I even feel bad since the BM is only spinning on the winder, but I will keep that one for sure since it is my "beater". That being said, even when I do "beater" things around the house, I still wear one of my Pannies or the Rolex.

Andie is one of those ladies who hates shopping, I love to shop. So if I want her to have nice stuff, I take the initative and go buy it for her. The only exception are the maternity clothes, I haved stayed way away from those.

Might I suggest you get rid of that wonderful white sweater and get another SD, you know you want one. And with the price of real white fur these days I am sure some tosser will trade you straight up hahahahahahhahaha
