Yachtmaster Ii 18k/SS

I finally tried it on. Beautiful watch. Does anyone think it is odd that I will buy this watch and probably never use It for anything other than telling time? Any thoughts on what a reasonable discount would be from an AD? Any opinions on the look of this watch? Please be candid. Thank you in advance. Chris

Chris,

The two-tone Yacht-Master II is a real beauty, I know Rob (Sleddog) has one and it looks very well on his wrists (from the pictures I've seen, don't tell him though, he'll start to blush...).

In all seriousness, I think there are many (and I mean it, many) complications on a lot of timepieces that are very rarely (if ever) used by their owners. Rolex itself probably assumes people will buy the YM-II even if they don't sail at all. I'm the type of man who usually says "if you like it, it's all that matters".

The discount you may have will always depend on a lot of things (starting with the kind of relationship you have with your AD), I'm afraid I don't know if the YM-II is a piece that is usually sold at a lower price or not. As for the looks, I really like it but, alas, it is way too big for my small wrists, I'm more of a smaller watches man.

I think it's a great watch however it's not my favorite with the lack of a date feature. Discount on that model is too hard to predict to me. Depends on if the AD wants to inventory that watch or let it fly. Your better off trying an independent AD over the large chain AD's. Good luck!!

It's a stunner of a watch IMO.

I remember when YMII were frowned upon and thought of as terrible abominations

It is a great watch and I have tired one on twice and will do so again next week when I finally decide about buying. Heavy, big and different - perfect and I would never use the functions, as for the lack of date, it is wrong on all my automatic watches anyway. Only downside is that it does not have the micro bracelet adjustment that my DSSD has.

hey

I think the YG YMII is an amazing piece.

In terms of discounts, I dont own one for myself, but I do know a few people who bought them at big discounts.

Its a fairly uncommon piece, not a lot of people even trying them on. And given the high retail price tag, it will sit for a LONG TIME as an AD waits to sell it off. So the ADs are probably quite eager to sell.

I have purchased at least 15 new Rolexes from this AD. Thoughts on a discount for the 18k/ss and also discount for all 18k. Thank you.

99% of watches are used for "just telling time". If Rolex only sold watches to people that were divers, pilots, spelunkers, and yachtsmen they would have been out of business a LONG time ago.

It's a beautiful watch! Go for it!

I think it's an awesome looking watch, even more so in person. Get it and wear it for whatever you want to wear it for

It has some incredible presence. I'm sure you'll find excuses to use the countdown function, though You'll be in a very exclusive club of owners, it's a fantastic watch, and one of the most innovative that Rolex have done in a long time
