5167 or 15300/15400
I have finally lock down on these as my next purchase. Which would be the better choice. Would love to hear your thoughts on the pros and cons of these pieces. TIA.

I have but only two of these.
Frankly, it should be the one you like the most.

There are no downsides to either, both are equally impressive and represent a step up from Rolex.
If both appeal to you, then whatever you buy, you can always buy the other one later! Have you tried them all on? What is the most comfortable, what grabs you the most? Plenty of reviews on the 'Net, and literally hundreds of comments on these TRF forums, do a search and you'll have hours of fun reading! |

Oh goodness, that's a tough one...
I think one is just as impressive as the other so I'll have to go with my comrades here and suggest you to try both on and see which one you prefer. I personally prefer most Patek's to AP's but in all honesty the 15300 and 15400 are models I really enjoy admiring, therefore it is hard for me to go with the 5167 all the way... Good luck with the decision! No matter which one you get I don't think you can make a bad choice.

Oh, that is a tough one. Ceteris paribus, I must say I slightly prefer the PP Cal 324 because of the 4Hz vs the AP Cal 3120, which e.g. many AP ROO Diver owners know isn't particularly accurate.

As others said, it's a tough one. I'd get the 5167 if I was specifically looking for a rubber strap high-end watch. Any other case, I'd go for the 15300ST, by hunting down a good deal on a NOS/BNIB piece. Even when the 15300 was still an "active" product, you could get one at a nice deal, so now that it's discontinued chances are even better to get its price down. Either way, it would be a much more affordable piece than the 5167. Of course if price is not an issue, then you could put the 5711 into the options as well
BTW, my 15300ST says hi: (don't be surprised by the proportions ... yes, I have a freakishly thin wrist )

Hard choice rubber is nice, but the 15300/15400 is nice too.

Both are great.. I've got the 5167 and will likely add a 15300..

I will recommend the 15300. It was discontinued and biggest plus it is ROYAL OAK. every AP fan will love to own at least one of this.

I only wish I was smart enough to keep it!!! ;-)
It hurt to much giving patina to that 15300.0R, which is just fact of life with my lifestyle, but man, that is probably one of the sweetest watches I've ever owned, including 5167, 18K Rolex etc. |

Why not contemplate a 5711? I enjoy wearing this to work today!

Tough choice, but can't go wrong with either IMO. I started w/ the 5167/1a and recently acquired a 15300 blue dial. The AP feels much sportier to me and seems larger, although I believe it is 1mm smaller. It's hard to describe the feeling of wearing the PP; it's almost like it feels more expensive (if expensive had a feel). The bracelet is so nicely done and the clasp is just fantastic.
I believe the AP goes better w/ my clothing choices (jeans + polo) so I haven't worn the PP much lately. I was thinking tonight that I would order the rubber strap soon to hopefully coax me back into wearing it more frequently. Good luck either way! |
