Leather strap care

Hello, everyone,
I like the look of leather strap on my watches, and install a few of them accordingly. Not so much worry about the wear and tear, as the straps I used dont cost all that much at the moment.
However, the straps get smelly after they got wet, fro. Water, or whatever liquid happened to got on my wrist,...

Does anyone have any suggestion how I can take care of this problem? Or do I have no choices but to live with the smell? I use varai's leather/rubber care on them, but it does not seem to improve.

The smell is from sweat being eaten by bacteria. Stink is the byproduct of that process.

You can use a specific deodorant to deal with that. Basically the same that is available for all kinds of leather shoes. Might want to pick a different or neutral flavor, the shoe stuff smells cheap somehow in my opinion.

Cloth and luke warm water would do the trick.

Fortunatley I haven't come across that prob with my leather straps but I've heard putting them in the freezer overnight does the trick.

There are plenty of decent, not expensive, straps available with rubber or silicon lining just for this problem.

Easy.
1) Take it off.
2) Put Rolex Oyster bracelet back on as originally intended.

Sorted.

Update: I left my strap in the freezer for a night, now it smells like shrimp,... something to do with the preparation for sushi party tomorrow?
