If it was a Rolex would the price have thrown you........?
The facts of the matter are that Omega make watches of at least the equivalent quality of Rolex and with their new movements, some would argue more technologically advanced. Therefore the price differential (which is closing fast) is just marketing and brand perception.... And really just in your head.... In the 50's and 60's Omega had the brand awareness ..... This clearly swung to Rolex but many people think it's moving back....... Look at the price increase over recent years on vintage Omega......which is evidence in my mind that collectors feel a change is coming and the brand is currently under-valued......And will compete with Rolex more equally in coming years...... But just my 2 cents.... |

I think you're right Diamond Jack.
The new PO's are amazing.

I agree with DiamondJack.
It is what it is and costs what it costs. If that amount was in my budget and that watch appealed to me the most, then I would buy it. I can envisage people attracted to say a submariner and baulking at the almost AUD 10000 it costs here. |

The current Omega line has no reason to apologize. In many cases, their in-house 8500 movements can be had for half the price of a Rolex. The same quality is there with very modern design.

Omega used to have a better value proposition. I think the watches are great but I will stick with pre-owned and a generation earlier for now.

if you like it get it. you'd be one of the few who could pull it off.
i think omega's direction will be lasting. not a one hit wonder or a fad. i image it 50 years from now and still looks classy |
