65 cobra & dj2
My father picked up a 65 cobra today and I actually got to drive it for about 45 minutes to his house . . Very very enjoyable experience to say the least if your a car guy. The weather was perfect for today for the cruise.
The car is very specially in the way that it has a real, vintage 1968 427 NASCAR side oiler engine with duel quad tunnel port heads & intake. Backed buy a NASCAR spec top loader four speed adds up to tons of fun. Did a little research and found that Carroll shelby actually went to Chevy 1st to produce the cobras but was turned down. Chevy didn't want e corvette to have any competition, so ford was actually the second choice. Imagine if Chevy picked up shelby how different things would be. Also the cobra is a British design originally meant to have a 289 I believe

Thanks again for the post. I had to show this car to a co-worker. She's got a 1970 Cutlass Supreme Convertible. While in Daytona, a homeless guy yelled at her while she was stopped at a light. He said, "put the stripes back on that car; it's a !@&;$ pace car."

beautiful - I have an 08 Shelby GT that takes a few cues from that car - the AC Cobra - powered by Ford! Met Carroll in 2010 and got my car signed by the legend as well. Enjoy in good health

Gorgeous!
I started talking cars with a small business owner in my hometown a couple years ago. He started showing me pictures of his cars and he could tell I was into it. He gave me his address, turns out he lives in my town. He owns CSX003 (along with a few other toys) he was real cool about everything, I took pics etc. It was awesome

Looks like a C7OE tunnel port intake. In 68 the only thing that got the 427 was the GTE. I wonder if that is a GTE side oiler block with tunnel port heads and intake. Interesting looking aftermarket linkage. Looks like the old non progressive set up I had on two Holleys and and early C7ZX GT500 PI intake. Are those Edelbrocks carbs? I have a very similar 428 sitting on a stand right now with a low rise 427 C3 2x4 and a pair of progressive Holley 600's. Those tunnel port 427's are monsters. I can't image what it must be like in such a light car. |

Wow, driving one of those is something that very few people will ever have the pleasure of doing. I would love to see an original, let alone get behind the wheel. Gorgeous.
