Finally I got my first Rolex few days ago. Before that, my Omega Speed Master was the daily work horse. As I was about to retire it to its box, I realized part of the skin of the box has been disintegrated. The box has lost its past beauty.

Just curious if anyone can share how you store away your Rolex box and is it important to keep the box in good condition for future selling with the watch?

Everyone is different but I personally put the original watch boxes away safely as soon as I get them to keep them in new condition and safe.

I have a drawer to keep all my watch boxes and paperwork etc together.

I then use my watch storage box to place all my watches in together.

It's packed away in a bigger box on a shelf. I don't really have any reason to open it or look at it. I think it may have been taken out of 'storage' maybe 3 or 4 times since I've owned the watch 13+ years.

I keep all the boxes and papers for all my watches. I recently sold three watches and everyone seemed happy to get the complete package

makes the watch more complete, and easier to sell later. Even if you are not going to sell the watch, your estate will have to eventually...

Yes like everyone else I have kept everything for all my watches. I just store them in my closet.

Welcome to the Forum and enjoy your time here. You could pack the Rolex box, complete, in another larger box or container and keep it dry and clean. Now if you were to decide to sell your watch at a future date in time.....many people prefer to buy the watch with all the original packaging. But of course it's not imperative that you keep it but it is a good idea!!!

Thanks folks for the quick replies.

No one had any box that had disintegrated skin? My Red Omega suffered that after staying in a closed closet for years. Now I have to look for a better storage space for my Rolex Box.

What Leo said. I'm one of those persons who would prefer to buy the complete set so I do think it is important to keep it all for the future.

Personally no, but if you're concerned about your Rolex box doing the same as your Omega box despite having put it away then just get a sealable air-tight bag/container.

I rent a 20'x 20' air conditioned storage unit for $1,500/month.

In the center of the room I placed a piedestal with the box on top.

My Rolex AD told me it would be enough with a 10' x 10' unit but I want the box to be able to breath.

I keep the box and warranty card with the receipt in a separate safe (ie: separate to the watch). It's essential for resale as far as I'm concerned, everyone wants a complete set if they can get it.

I keep the box, the instruction booklet, the COSC tag, etc. Everything I can. It doesn't take up much room to keep all of the little things the next guy might appreciate. And I appreciate having it all myself as well. I usually look at the stuff every few months.

If I remember mine are somewhere in the attic with the rest of the clutter I have massed over the years its cheaper,but I keep the real important bits the watches on my wrist or if not worn in my sock draw.

Yea I keep my boxes and papers in a safe location. Put them high up in an area I don't access often to maintain the integrity of the whole package.

I had the same thing happen with a Seamaster Box. In the Omega Section I have seen this mentioned before. I have not had that problem with a Rolex Box.
