How to spot polishing on a Day Date/Datejust

Anybody have any easy ways to spot a polished case on a Day Date/Datejust?

Polishing on a Sub is usually obvious because the chamfers aren't as sharp. However, it seems harder to spot it on a Day Date/Datejust.

In particular, any photos of polished/non-polished cases would be really useful.

I don't have pics. But I have my dad's 1980 DD. It was never polished once in its many overhauls thru the years. Made sure of that. To me when I look a DD pics of used DD. The lugs show me how much it's been polished .

A telltale sign seems to be when the end of the lugs are too sharp or pointed. Could be wear; could also be improper fitment of a bracelet, although the "inside" wear should be more obviously.

On a Datejust, you can sometimes tell based on that sweeping line that separates the polished from the brushed finish down the side of the lugs. Sometimes that line is not factory perfect. Also, there's a thickness to the lugs and sharpness to the edges that you get used to by looking at a lot of cases. I spent a year searching for an unpolished Datejust before ending up with this one.

The DJ has some unique curves and flats on the case that cannot be reproduced if polished. The only negative is that you must be experienced on the original look as to detect it.
