16710A GMT - Hands different color than hour markers
Just bought a GMT from a fellow TRF'er. Looks like the hands were replaced during a previous service. They are slightly grayer and still have some luminescence left in them. Can you have a look at the pic and tell me if I'm crazy?

I have a 16710 GMT2 I bot new. About 10 years ago, I sent it in for the first service to Rolex and I made the mistake of letting them replace the Tritium dial and hands with the newer Luminova hands. Big mistake, they would have been a wonderful patina by now... oh well, live and learn. It looks like someone did not replace the set like I did. You have 2 options, replace both now, of leave as it. My vote is to leave as is, it gives your piece a little character.

Yes looks like they were replaced at service which often happens especially the hands as the Tritium often get unstable and starts to flake off.But no big deal and should not effect watches value but should now be able to tell time in the dark if needed.

Hey k1September and padi56. Just now seeing your replies. Thanks very much for the piece of mind. I think I'll keep everything as is for now and maybe do a dial and hands swap at the next service.
Here is an updated shot of "Yeager" for reference. |
