Dear Seiko-

Get rid of the power reserve indicator and we have a deal.

I bought a Seiko Quartz Astron in 1970 and it was stolen the same year. I bought a Seiko Quartz Digital watch about 1974. I still have the watch but the LCD has long quit displaying, the watch would work otherwise. I must find my macro lenses and get some pictures.

I have had a long love affair with Seiko sense that first one in 1970. As a kid Bulova was my favorite as it was my first watch given to me by an uncle. It didn’t quite work but what does a 7 year old need.
Rolex is just something I have because it is the thing to do.

This one has a much smaller reserve dial. I'm really liking this model...

It's neat technology, I just wish Seiko made bigger watches than 38/39mm. And they need better dial design. There designs tend to be very busy.

New... about 3.5k USD.
Used... who knows? They only make about 100 or so of each model, and they almost never show up on the sales corners.

I love the technology and since I live near Seattle I went to World Lux for a look. First off World Lux was a disappointment. It was dark (One quarter of the overhead lights were broken) and smaller than I expected. There was only one sales girl working there and she did not seem like she was a real watch enthusiast. The only other watch maker of interest they had there was Ball.

As far as the Seiko goes, I like the face and the technology but found them to be too thick. It says 13.5mm but feel thicker to me. For me a thick watch gets slammed on something too often. My GMT II is about as thick as I ever want to go.

Chip,

I stand corrected, that is a very cool watch.

Thanks Gary.

I do agree with you on the fact that some of their offerings are a bit too busy for me.

However, the thing is accurate to within a second or less per month!
So that makes me forget about many things.

The one I have, SNR001, gets a lot of comments from people, and it is finished at about the same level with lots of watches with an MSRP north of the 3.5k they want for this one.
