Any Love? 2531.80s?
I own one and up until I purchased my Rolex it was my best watch. I love the feel, the lum, the ruggedness, and the accuracy of the watch. I've had it a couple of years and it just keeps on ticking at about -1 second a week. If it weren't for it having become the Bond watch due to it appearing in a couple of films it would be close to perfect watch. At any rate here are a few of photos of mine. Anyone else have one they like?

+1 on classic. I've had mine going on 8 years(just awaiting return from it's first service !) and I still enjoy it. The design may be old, but to me it still has an enduring appeal.

The 2531 is great. This model was responsible for putting Omega back on track after a period of darkness and when they only had the Speedy to sustain their prestige. I really loved it and there was a time when I had 2 of them. However, when Rolex released the new Submariner with all improvements, one by one all modern Omega I had were sold to fund my Subs.

My first real watch and a gift from my wife when we got married. Been serviced twice for routine maintenance.
Still my favorite after all this time |

And me as well at least as far as big boy watches are concerned. Funny how the Bond thing drew me in. After this watch I've no more interest in any movie Bond watch but perhaps an Explorer.

I love this watch, one of my all time favorites watches period. Always classic and timeless. It's a legend now in my opinion. See that picture of the Sub and Seamaster....the Omega just calls out with its beautiful dial.
Getting rid of the wave dial was a huge mistake by Omega which is why these are becoming so collectible and hard to find. Consider yourself fortunate if you have one, don't sell it. As soon as I find a nice example I'm willing to piss my wife off to buy one plus they don't cost a lot. 😖 Ps: I saved every picture from this thread. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm not quite sure what you meant but I totally agree on the value part. Mines comfortable, elegant, durable, and accurate. Even without the Bond context it would still be a heroic watch.

Like some of you, this is the watch that got me into watches. Back when Brosnan wore it, it became something I would own some day. That day came many years later. I don't have it any longer, but I may pick another up at some point. The bracelet is so comfortable. Wears like a charm.

Ok, I'm pilling on here...I love mine too and will never sell it. It has a very distinctive look and its bulletproof. I too agree with an earlier poster that Omega should have kept the waves.

Awesome watch. It's on my 'to get next' list. Incidentally when did the wave dial cease?

Have been wearing mine pretty much non stop since the Summer of 1998 and still love it as much as the first day I got it!!
I am currently itching to add a second watch on my list (debating between a GMT II BLNR and a Moonwatch) but I must say that the thought of being unfaithful to my 2531.80 is a huge downer for me. I have all receipts, the box (whose fake red leather started to crumble of age), the cards, and all three receipts of the Omega services performed. All parts are original except the seconds hands (the red color had faded but I still have the original), the crystal (the original one had a little chip) and a few of the cog wheels which had been replaced. (I have all the older parts of course). This watch is amazingly accurate. I would say less than +1' per month! Truly a masterpiece... |

Love the watch! Not the band... Never could warm up to the 9 piece link, just seems too busy for me. I had to buy mine with a speedy bracelet. Looked great on a NATO also!

I sold mine off a while back but it's a stunning watch. Especially for what you can buy them for these days.
