What could one do with my serial#?

I had a watch for sale here on the forum. A gentlemen was ready to close the deal on my watch after at least a half dozen emails of photos, etc. he wanted to see the warranty card, tags, etc. of course I obliged. My serial number was clearly visible in a couple photos. Then he disappeared without responding to any other emails. I'm fine if he bailed as I've decided not to sell the watch at this time. Afterwards I noticed he was a new member with zero post. Could he use my watch serial number to fake another watch? Am I being paranoid?
Thanks

More likely to report your serial number/watch stolen than fake a watch. But that's also very unlikely. Maybe send him a pm?

May I ask what was the model?
He can of course use your serial number on another watch.

Worst he could do it to try and sell it with your pics somewhere else... Scamming someone.
Still, there's always a bit of tire kickin' going around. A pas-time I'm also guilty of.

He could also buy a replica and have that serial number engraved on it and then sell it as fake. The serial number could be used on many rep cases as well.

It's never too late to take out a policy on "Watch-Lock" to protect your number!

Be safe.

I wouldn't worry about it. Anyone can go to a Rolex dealer and write down serial numbers from watches in the show case.

So no worries.
I saw big issues with super rare vintage models, but this is not the case here.
