A member here got me interested in the now-discontinued a13340 Breitling Superocean chronograph. I'm curious as to what folks here think of it, as compared to (for example) a Tudor 79260.

The Breitling has a Caliber 13 movement, based on the well-known ETA Valjoux 7750 movement. My understanding is that Tudor has also used the 7750 for its chrono's from time to time.

This Breitling has a vintage, golden-age-of-aviation (1930's) vibe that really appeals to me, especially on a Breitling leather Croc strap. If I can find a reasonably-priced one (mid 2's), think it's worth a try?

I have had two. Both spent a lot of time at the watch maker.

Breitlings in general, or two Chrono Superoceans? Just curious... Mine is stamped 2008 between the lugs and has run flawlessly since I got it.

The SO Chrono is an impressive watch. I've tried on a few and I think they look great. That being said, if I were looking for a Breitling Chrono, it would be the newer Transocean; either the full size or the 38mm, which I think looks a little better.

I like Breitling quite a bit and was happy for a short time with the Chronomat 44 with the 01 in house movement. My advice would be to NOT make the mistake I made no matter which Breitling you eventually settle on - buy preowned or from a trusted seller with a heavy discount. I bought mine from an AD and although decently discounted, with tax and everything else, it will sell for about 60% of what I paid.

That raises a question. Does anyone know what the last retail MSRP was for this model?
