Sydney(AU) purchase - Black Daytona | Australia

Hi folks

just wondering have any of you deal with LK and Hour glass in the past?
So last week i quickly went to Swiss Concept and J.Farren price to check for the Daytona 116520. Both of them don't have stock and I'm due for a waiting list. JFarren Price will need to take AU$2000 deposit to have me in the waiting list. meanwhile Swiss-Concept has STOP taking list as they have a long queue.

Both quoted me Au$13350 with no room for negotiation whatsoever.
I tried to called LK Jewellery in Martin Place , and same price, no discount (the sales person encourage me to come to the store and no need to put money as down-payment to have my name queued as "Expression of Interest")

I know probably some of you will tell me to get it from TRF instead, but see the thing is, after Currency Conversion it basically will be the same price as I will be traveling overseas and can get the duty free tax, which is 10% less.

Question is, does any one of you have dealt with LK and Hourglass Sydney, as I am curious to go to them, but not sure if they are willing to discount the price, even for a bit
Any sales person that you can probably can recommend?

thanks Heaps guys

My experience buying in Australia- you only get discounts if it is a watch they have had sitting there for while.
I was given 10% off by Swiss Concept and LK Melbourne. I didn't ask- but both said we will give you a discount if you buy now. Both times Senior sales people and think it was because I was hesitating. Suspect -no way if there is a waiting list.
Have you considered the places in the Strand Arcade or Victoria building- they sometimes have pre-owned watches for good prices.
I bought my 2009 Exp II from a place in the QVB for a good price- I asked if they could do better and yes- a better price.
Just my experience and thoughts
and our exchange rate is so bad right now- when I was in the US earlier this year- cheaper to buy at home

Hi
my experience is buy from DavidSW! Also how is the exchange rate bad? I just paid 92.35 oz cents for a USD. That may not be as good as it has been at times but it is still close to parity and given Oz wages that's an amazing combination.

To the OP I can't imagine you are getting a Daytona in Oz at 13,350 for less than what you will achieve from a grey dealer on TRF. Still get warranty. Buy the seller and what can go wrong?

If you aren't sure of supply I'd suggest contacting DavidSW and asking him if he can find one for you and for a price. Don't necessarily wait for him to advertise one. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I recently went into lkboutique at the casino, was inquiring about the two tone submariner with diamonds. They didn't have it in stock but quoted me $18, 900 for it.
I ended up getting it from DavidSW. He saved me over $4000.
I recommend you hit up DavidSW. That's all I've got to say.

No discounts from my experiences here. The hour glass is best to deal for discount with Imo. LK has great service but SS models hard to discount.

I suggest buy from trusted dealers here or call the Swiss Watch Box in Perth, they are awesome to deal with and I have bought from trusted dealers here and Swiss Watch Box without any delivery issues and have saved lot's of cash!
It will SAVE YOU HEEPS OF DOSH!! Just pick up the phone or email them!!!!
Rolex dealers like Hour Glasss etc... Will take your cash, charge you more and will wait for donkey years before they deliver!!

LK are fantastic but no discounts anywhere on top models. Given the exchange rate Rolex prices aren't too far off, so its not really worth importing unless you're the one buying overseas and prepared 'not' to declare to customs on re-entry.

My experience. Discounts in australia are hard to come by. Ok won't discount. Hour glass may throw a bone. However if there is a waiting list why would they discount.

My blnr was $399 cheaper to get from the us. However supply was tight over the world.

Hi guys

Thanks for all the reply

The main reason being is I have tried to get the price quoted from few of the well known seller here. Few well known seller quoted BNIB its U$11500.
Now if I get it from any AD here its AU$13350 minus 10%GST (as I am taking it overseas so im taking the tourist refund scheme) it will be around AU$12150 (U$11.300).
I dont mind the wait, as I plan to go overseas around January 2015

So thats why I was feeling that getting one from AD will be cheaper.
If I get it from overseas, with fee conversion rate for direct bank transfer (or paypal) there will still be other things that I need to look out for.
Cost of Custom as well the shipping fee which all adds up to more expensive rather than getting it here

And what makes it more difficult as this is the SS sport style which is always in high demand, makes no room for negotiation for me
Perhaps i Should also take a consideration of getting it LNIB or Mint condition which will be much cheaper to get it from US

A suspect you either don't know the TRS, or you plan on circumventing the taxes due when you return to Aus...?

Should this watch return with you, it does exceed your limit allowable, an is subject to taxes upon return!
With this, your numbers of the purchase/exchange/discounts will be off Tony.

I did not have a good experience with JFP, LK could be a good option based on feedback.

If your taking it out. Buy local. Other way is to walk in with 5k and say hold this and I get a ss Daytona by December guaranteed for a $700 discount.

Might be worth your shot. I have done this with another good. Not rolex or watch but something with the same reputation.

I bought a sub c from JFP earlier this year and couldn't get a cent off no matter what I tried. Even walked away twice for a week at a time. So paid full RRP

Then I was offered a ss Daytona from the Hour Glass, and again, not a cent off :(

Anyhow, after agonising over it for a week, bought it even though it was a white dial. Now agonising over getting Rolex to swap out the dial to black.

Such is life :)

Anders,

Still love the look of the watch and wear it in rotation with the rest, but i cant help but notice it from about 4 seconds after I put it on and start driving to work. Lets just say my memory of JFP attitude to a customer of a new PP will always linger well after my hearing has failed.

Have you lobbed up yet to Australia John Beth is talking about a visit to Sydney soon, might be time for a catch up at the Casino buffet. I will bring the Bark DD along as my new show toy, need to keep to goal of a new watch for each GTG.

yep fine quality will be remembered long after the pain of spending money is forgotten, but sadly the memory of rubbish service will always remain

arrive in sydney in a few weeks mate. just sorting out some projects to get my hands on and trying to track down a 65" UHD for the property, then we'll be good to go.

i'll be stumbling distance to the garden buffet at star city so i am ready molest and demolish it when you kids are

could also smash up a few racks of ribs at hurricanes before the garden buffet onslaught
