Wasssup from Sydney!

Hi from sunny Sydney!

I'm new to TRF, but long time watch aficionado and a member of various watch forums.

Have finally decided to add a Rollie to the collection and doing my research, so finally had a reason to join. I put off purchasing a Rolex because of the perceived "stigma", because I thought it was cliche, and also the "why own one when everyone owns one" feeling, and I put it off as long as possible. However, I've realised no collection is complete without one and you can only avoid it for so long.

So now the big decision is which "one" will it be?

It's currently a toss up between the Sea Dweller or GMT II. However, I drool looking at vintage Subs with beautiful patina already in the dial. But I do like my watches on the bigger and heavier side, so the DSSD is attractive, although not sure I can get past the Original Gas Escape Valve and Ring Lock System written on the Rings which bring me back to the Sea Dweller.

The decision too hard to make, so hoping to become enlightened.

Looking forward to talking watches and being a Rolex owner very soon!

Welcome from up over!

TRF is a great resource for all things Rolex. Nowhere better in fact. One caveat, should you come across a thread on how to use a GMT as a compass - do the opposite.

Welcome, try the Deepsea in person. I found the text not bothering at all compared with the Macro shots. Happy hunting

Hi there, it's good to see a another New South Welshman join, welcome and enjoy the wealth of knowledge available.

I have a Sea-Dweller and a GMT and love them both, tough to pick between them. The new ceramic GMT models wear larger on the wrist so might suit your tastes, but unless you have enormous arms most sports Rolex pieces will look great on you.
