I got the itch ! Help Rolex Datejust

I really want to get a fine watch and have had my eye on a rolex datejust for years I like the new ones with the suddle changes they made. It will cost me between 4 to 6 thousand to get one I like from what I can tell. I need someone to tell me why this watch is worth this kind of money besides a sales person at a store that probaly doesn't even own one. Your taughts will be helpfull.

Also can any one refer me to a good online source to buy one for good pricing ?

Also what is the typical discount off retail from a rolex dealer in percentage ?

Below is pictures of the watch I like (borrowed from an ebay seller)

Welcome to TRF. Is anything really worth the price you pay??? I believe you pay for what you get. You wouldnt go to a Kia dealer and ask them to slap a BMW emblem on the car would you. Kinda the same with a rolex you just know that you are buying quality at a high cost. There is always knockoffs if you want to go that route.

As far as the discounts go?? Personally it depends on your AD what kind of discount he or she will give you. A lot of AD's have pre-price increase stock and will sell it at the old price. Some wont, so you just need to ask around if you are going to go the AD route.

I would check out the FS section of this forum first to kind of get an estimate on what range you are looking to pay. Also, the FS section is a good place to buy a watch great discounts.

if you are going to buy from the net.

www.swissluxury.com

I heard they were pretty good but be careful. Like they say know the seller before you buy

Welcome to TRF!

Why the DJ's worth it? Well, for starters you get one of the best and sturdiest made movements made, the Caliber 3135.

Secondly, with the new updated DJ, you get an extremely well-made bracelet with solid centre and end links and the "Crown Clasp". A piece of art on its own.

Thirdly, you get a great classic icon from Rolex.

And last, but not least, you get a timepiece that - well maintained - can outlive you and will hold its value very well if you decide to keep it for a long time.

I recently bought a DateJust model 116200. I love the new style jubilee bracelet with hidden clasp. The DateJust is a classic looking dress watch but is sturdy enough for casual wear and swimming, etc (no diving). As Bo mentioned, it is an iconic watch in the Rolex line. Most on this forum are in favor of the AD route and I am too if money is not an issue. If you are seriously looking to purchase online then there are a few good, reliable dealers out there. Alan Furman is top notch and you can get a nice discount from him. He also provides his own warranty. I've purchased from him and have had no problems. Bernard Watch is another one you might want to look at. I've never bought from them, but I've heard good things. Do your homework before making any online purchase or even at an AD for that matter. I don't think you'll be unhappy with a DateJust. Is it worth the price? I've asked myself the same types of questions lately. Only you can decide. Best of luck

That looks like the 116234 model. If it is I have the same watch in white/roman numerals, I really like the size of the watch. I wear mine every day. It does not matter if I am dressing up or just bumming around.
