Hello;

Currently in the market for a 5711 or a 5164 and I am drawn in by the beautiful 5146. Quick question about people who own a PC or AC: do you guys put them in watch winders? There is a concern (I presume) that it places unnecessary wear and tear on the mechanism and is a debated topic on watch forums. Thoughts?

I place mine in a winder when not wearing it. It's usually on my wrist though - I don't know about the long term effects of winders but these watches were made to be worn so I wouldn't worry too much.

I don't use winders and very easy with Patek to set watch takes only a minute for AC and PC. I also keep my watches in bank safe deposit box when not on wrist so only one out at a time to be safe.

As said above, Patek are so easy to set that I never felt a need for a watch winder. But the best watch winder will always be your wrist!

not an issue, is just personal preference. I have played in both sides. I have Orbita winders, depending on when you ask me sometimes I use them and sometimes they go back to the basement. For me, when I do it is just to keep things interesting.

I used to put my watches on winders and even have a battery powered that fit in my safe but after a short time-- my winders are packed away.

Mine are all on winders. I just don't want to take the time in the morning to set them. My caveat with some winders, at least mine, is the hard ridges on the cuffs that keep the watch from slipping too far. I have banged my Patek's into those cuffs more than once trying to get them onto it!! Ugh..
