Looking to Buy First Rolex
I am new to RF and have an interesting dilemma.
I've been saving up and am finally ready to buy my first Rolex. Because of money I will likely only ever be a one watch guy. Here is where it gets tricky. I work for an authorized dealer and have the opportunity to buy one watch directly from Rolex at a below cost price (excludes some models). Pretty sweet deal, right? The trouble is that I am not in love with the modern case design of the sport watches like I am with the vintage ones. If I buy a really nice 1675, 16700, or 5513 on the open market I will end up paying significantly more than if I were to buy directly from Rolex. If money were not an issue I would do both...or if I could get away with the wife not finding out! What would you do if you were in my shoes and buying for the first time? |

Could you perhaps flip the new/modern watch at a profit to fund a vintage?

I've thought about flipping, but I'm a little worried how that might look. It's not so much an issue if I was not in this position forever. I may also play the waiting game to see what we take in trade OTC. That is more of a crap shoot though.
