Looking to Buy First Rolex

I am new to RF and have an interesting dilemma.

I've been saving up and am finally ready to buy my first Rolex. Because of money I will likely only ever be a one watch guy. Here is where it gets tricky. I work for an authorized dealer and have the opportunity to buy one watch directly from Rolex at a below cost price (excludes some models). Pretty sweet deal, right? The trouble is that I am not in love with the modern case design of the sport watches like I am with the vintage ones. If I buy a really nice 1675, 16700, or 5513 on the open market I will end up paying significantly more than if I were to buy directly from Rolex. If money were not an issue I would do both...or if I could get away with the wife not finding out!

What would you do if you were in my shoes and buying for the first time?

Could you perhaps flip the new/modern watch at a profit to fund a vintage?

I've thought about flipping, but I'm a little worried how that might look. It's not so much an issue if I was not in this position forever. I may also play the waiting game to see what we take in trade OTC. That is more of a crap shoot though.
