They are not clipped. I've seen a couple sellers doing this. They select all the metallic and black and white areas and convert them to grayscale isolating the colored areas. So it looks this weird because they eliminate all the visual colour bleeding from light bouncing against coloured areas. I don't approve this but some people don't seem to be put off by it.
