Classic. I saw Rodney Dangerfield live in 1980 at San Antonio Community College. My buddy from the Army and I cried laughing. I can almost remember every joke.

You know, I think that's the only time Ive ever seen him come out and go straight to the couch. As big as he was he always did 5 minutes of stand up before sitting down. Of course even sitting down he's doing stand up, lol! But I always admired him for that and I think that's who Seinfeld got it from.
My all time favorite. Thanks for posting.

The thing is that Dangerfield was using Carson as his straight man and Carson pulled it off flawlessly, in fact ingeniously, in the most minimalist fashion. Definitely two masters playing off each other perfectly.

Oh yeah, and an obvious mutual respect and admiration. You know how Carson could be. Not too many could have made the comment Rodney made when Johnny asked him the name of his new movie and Rodney said, "Thanks for being so well informed." - and ever been invited back on again.
