Here are a couple of answers to questions that are repeatedly asked to members on this forum, and me personally at work. I’m not trying to argue with anyone. If you have more questions that have factual answers, feel free to ask.

Fact sheet:

- You cannot overwind an automatic watch.

- Your automatic watch will not keep running with just wearing it.
(You have to actually move enough to keep it wound.)

- The date can change anywhere between 11:55pm and 12:05am.
(If it changes around 12:00pm, just move your hands 12 hours forward.)

- Sapphire crystals can scratch, chip and shatter.

- Oils will dry out inside the movement over time.
(even though people claim it to be airtight/ having synthetic oils which shouldn’t dry, etc.)

- You can turn the crown both ways while manually winding your watch.
(It only works one way, but you don’t damage anything the other way.)

- You can turn the hands of your watch backwards when adjusting the time, or date. No worries!

- You can quickset the date any time of day on any Rolex.
(Be aware that with some other movement, like ETA this is not always possible)

- Any Rolex will loose it's water resistance rating if gaskets aren't replaced on a regular basis. Gaskets do deteriorate over time.

- Rolex does not sell watches on-line, and does not allow AD’s to sell over the phone or internet.

- Authorized Rolex repair centers and watchmakers are not allowed to work on watches with after-market parts on them.

- Rolex will not honor a warranty, without the original paperwork or card properly filled out and belonging to the original purchaser.

Like I said, I'm not here to argue. The statements I made are true. Now this doesn't mean you haven't experienced otherwise. It's just what Rolex' policies are. Not everybody follows the rules.

What happens to the old parts that Rolex replace when servicing a watch ?
There policy here is all parts are sold on an exchange basis. Is this the same worldwide?

I assume so (a definate yes for the USA). They do not provide the old parts back because they don't want people to start building their own "new" watches with any left-over worn parts.

i purchased my tt gmt 2 c over the phone while i was deployed in iraq from a ad in glendale, california in order to beat the last price hike. i guess it just depends on the different ads. i has happy they could help me and i definatly would buy another watch from them again

Now I have a question: If my Rolex gets serviced every 3 to 5 years by RSC without fail, will my great grandchildren be able to get that same Rolex serviced? In other words, so long as I have a history with RSC, will they still have the parts for my model 30 or 40 or even 50 years from now?

So what are the official "rules" in the USA if I ever wanted a black bezel insert for my LV?

Does the original green insert have to be surrendered?

The black bezel insert is not available to me through official means because the watch was not shipped from Rolex with a black bezel insert?

Just curious, I've actually become very fond of the green insert.

To answer your question: Yes they will keep repairing it, untill the parts of the movement are completely discontinued. They generally stock parts of discontinued movements for about 30 years. Now, if you have a 15xx movement, it's hard to say how much longer that'll be. The 30xx movement should be serviceable for another 15 to 20 years I would guess. The 31xx movements are going to be available for a long time, since they aren't going anywhere right now, they are the best movement they have made, and I'm thinking they'll stay around for quite a while. I wish I could give you a more definate answer...

Here in the US we as official dealers are NOT ALLOWED to change your bezel at all. The LV has a unique model# and if you change the bezel, they'll consider it after-market (even if it's an original part). If you would have it serviced by an official service center, they would HAVE to replace it back to it's original green bezel.
I know it's bullsh... but those are the rules
