Moon Watch or Schumacher Speedy?

I am considering picking up a Speedy to pair with my 15400 black dial. I have very little knowledge on the Speedy, so I am turning to this forum for some guidance and opinions.

The watch may occasionally make an appearance in a business casual environment, but I doubt that would happen often. This watch will be intended for nights and weekends.

I am trying to decide between a Moon Watch, or the Schumacher posted below. They each have their own merits.

Moon Watch:
- Hard to beat the history of a watch that was on the moon
- A bit more versatile with the all black dial
- Dial is completely symmetrical
- Absolute icon
- Less water resistance
- A very common watch

Schumacher:
- Far less common, there are SO many "classic" moon watches out there
- While I like that it has a different design and some color, I worry that I won't like it as much after the novelty of it wears off. I had a blue 16613, and a LVC, and flipped them both in 3 months because the color got old for me.
- Has a date. I had a Daytona as an only watch for a year and a half, and I was fine without the date; but, I'll admit, it is nice having the date back on my watch.
- More water resistant (100m vs 50m)

Thank you in advance for the feedback and votes!

Prefer the Moon, prefer that dial. Maybe common on the forum, but not in the wild.

Legibility, look at the hands pop on the moon.

Good point on the legibility; I didn't even consider that.

"Very common watch".... I have seen ONE the last three years. I have the moon (SS) and you can't beat it; wear it on a strap, bracelet, nato, goes with everything!

Moonwatch!!
Can't beat that heritage and is a bit more "dressy" than the Schumi one.

Is there a preference for hexi or sapphire? What about solid caseback vs sapphire?

The most relevant model is the hesalite and solid case back... But the sapphire sandwich is nice too.

Many thanks! I like the historical aspect of the solid and hesalite, but the chrono movement looks so cool!

This. For me, I'd rather have the moon watch.

Same here. I live in Phoenix/Scottsdale area and couldn't tell you the last time I saw one. I'm in Vegas 3 times a year and haven't ever seen one there.

I must be desensitized since I see it so much on here and IG.

Appreciate the feedback, everyone! Please keep it coming!

I voted Schumacher.

The Schummy stood out for me. It has a business-like look of simplicity that reminded me of the '60s Daytonas.

Get the Pro. It's the true Speedmaster, as far as I'm concerned. And of course it has the be the hesalite front/steel back, that's the only one flight qualified by NASA.

As you can see, I'm a bit of a Speedmaster purist!

That may be why I'm drawn to it; I hadn't put that together yet.

Appreciate one of the Schumacher voters chiming in.

Very true, it's really the only moon watch.

It looks like there are a lot of purists on here, or no love for the Schumacher. I'm surprised the moon watch is winning by this margin. I kind of thought the date and better WR might tip the poll in favor of the Schumi.

I'm a car guy and I love that white-on-black-on-white. Schumi for me it's different

As an only Omega, there is only one choice. The 3570 is the one. Period. If you already have that and are looking for some variety, then the Schumacher or other variants are good options.

I went for the history on this one. Speedmaster with hesalite crystal.
iI's a great compliment to my Polar Exp II.

either would be a great choice, but in then end, the classic is where I would go.

good luck!

If you want to be a "purist" get the Schumi. After all that's what the Speedmaster was used for when it first appeared in 1957, as a racing chronograph watch. The Speedmaster eventually morphed into the "moon watch".

Just stating the facts...

Moonwatch! 3570.50 or nadda!

As "popular" as that watch is, I've only ever seen one in the wild. (yesterday in fact at Safeway looking at charcoal -- guy had a speedy on a NATO). I think Omega has sold a bazillion of the speedmasters (exaggeration on my part of course..) and yet I never see it in the wild.

I see more "rare" watches in the wild then speedmasters such as Platonas, Smurfs, BatMans, etc.

I've seen the same, but I wonder if that's just more what we are "on the lookout" for.

I'd pick the moon watch. I have my Dad's, which was bought in 1975. There is something about winding that watch that is special, it makes me feel more connected to it, and my Dad. It makes me want to find more watches with hand wound movements.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

I am most likely going to go Speedy, but I want to wait a couple months to pull the trigger.

Appreciate the link?

Can you, or anyone, please tell me the difference between the new Speedy (#1 in the first article) and the old 3570?
