Tudor 7149 fakes?

Hi all, i'm doing a little research before i take the plunge to buy a Tudor Monte Carlo chronograph. I've been looking at the HQmilton site recently also. Seem like good watches? I'm favouring the 7159 (steel bezel), but the 7149 (bakelite bezel) also has interested me. I know, Rolex/Tudor watches can be a mine field, with replacement parts, fakes etc. When i saw a recent listing on ebay, the watch struck me as incorrect. Bezel looked wrong, as did the dial. Subs not inset, fonts too small. Bezel fonts all over the place as well. So is this a watch with bad aftermarket parts, or an outright fake all round, even the inner caseback markings look wrong 11.71.

listing on ebay

I saw this on Ebay as well. Fake, run as fast as you can.

The bottom of the date window, which is hidden. That should not cut into the minute track. The fakes do.

Also the date wheel font is always wrong.

Sub dial hands should have silver hubs not black.

That case back is not gen either.

Movement should have a Tudor signed Chrono bridge too.

I'm looking at home plates all the time (and drooling) so I have a good idea on those.

Hi all,

I recently get a MonteCarlo 7149/0 from my dad, can I share with you some pics and maybe you can confirm if this could be a fake Tudor? What type of pics do you need?

Steve

Steve, clear, focused photos, particularly of the dial, front and back of case.

Photos in good light, better is shade just next to light, phone / camera on a book or stand 6-8 inches directly over watch.

Start a new thread.

Only buy from trusted and well established sellers. They are a minefield. Add in dials that from new began to degrade, many are now re-lumed at the very least.

My dad told me it was purchased by my grandmother in Switzerland in the 70s.

I'll appreciate your help!

That looks good to me.

The missing pusher is going to be expensive to replace, but otherwise it just needs a good cleaning and overhaul.

Yes I know, however it works perfectly. I'm from Costa Rica so here it's difficult to find some place where I can replace this part.

Curious about this, too. I have a few vintage Tudors that could potentially benefit from replacement parts, but I wouldn't have the slightest on where to start that search.
