Omega GMT for 16610?
Good evening,
Wondering if I should trade this for a 16610 or just hang onto it ? Resale isn't great (about 2k) so I'm thinking about buying 16610 outright. Appreciate any thoughts. Thanks! |

I'd keep it, it is nice to have a diver/GMT like your Omega in your collection. If you can swing buying the sub outright, do it.

I'd keep the Omega and pickup a 16610. It's always nice to have a good watch that you can wear and not worry about as much. I have an older TAG that gets a fair bit of wrist time for that exact reason.

If you plan to continue wearing it in rotation after you pick up the 16610, then keep it, if not, and it will just sit in a drawer or box, sell it and put the money toward the sub.

I would keep it, I had an Omega 2254.50 that I stupidly sold, to make-up some funds on a Rolex, dumbest thing ever. The watch, although in the 2K range used, was a great daily. And I miss it dearly. Remember, when you're working on your car, doing crap around the house, you want a watch that you don't want to worry about that much. Although my Explorer II 216570 has pretty much taken the spot of the 2245.50, which I beat it to death, I still miss my Omega.

Was my first real watch. Wore that thing for 12-years... from hell and back. Sure miss it. Glad you get to wear your dad's. Very cool.

If you still enjoy wearing it (and think you'll still wear it after buying a Sub), don't sell it.

Greetings
I also own this Omega GMT although mine is on the original Bond bracelet. It was my first grail and just returned from it's full service. If you don't need the dough, keep it, as it is a solid watch and a great value considering it's original cost. I seem to lean towards display backs and gmts. I have a 2254.50 that I consider letting go occasionally but I still wear it regularly as well. A common problem that I've come across as I started to get into Rolex is too many watches and not enough wrists. YMMV b |

If you can afford to keep it, why not? Omegas' hold values pretty well.
My SMPc's have been holding well, and its nice to have variety

I'd keep it. You will barely make a dent on trade in.
I wrongly decided to trade a Planet Ocean 2500 for a Seadweller 4000 and I still regret it. I don't have the SD anymore but I miss the PO. I want to get the PO again but not SD. So in summary, keep it and add the Sub. |

I would keep it. Like it's been said it won't make a huge difference in the trade.
I particularly like that Seamaster model: It's a proper GMT and still has a proper diver's bezel. Just add the Sub and enjoy both. |

The SM makes a great daily and as you said the resale isn't too great on it. My 2254.50 is the first mechanical watch that really sang to me, so many here have had it, sold it and then regretting letting it go, mine is here to stay. I'd keep it unless you don't wear it at all.

Sell it and use the 2k for a Sub-C Date instead.

Greetings,
The last time I thought of selling one of my Omegas I realized that I had purchased them new, from a FAD in DC, prior to Omega's corporate decision to go upmarket in terms of distribution and price point. The relative value of my pieces has therefore remained pretty constant, in fact I could most likely sell them for at least what I paid for them several years ago...a rarity in this hobby from what I can see. A rising tide does raise all boats, so to speak. YMMV, b. |
