Usually I take a GMT and a G-Shock. I like the "G" for a morning run and the GMT for everything else.

Absolutely. This is not a dress rehearsal. You only go 'round once in life. I'm gonna enjoy it with a Rolex on my wrist. If not now, when? My GMT II is insured, the perfect watch for travel, and it looks so damn good [imho]!

I think it depends on the location of the vacation. If you feel that you may be a walking target with the Rolex on your wrist, I might choose something different...

I wear a Rolex almost everywhere.........
OK, let me qualify that... If it's a water vacation, I think hard about the Sub, and the last cruise to Alaska I wore an Electric Blue SMP Omega.... However, usually I travel with an EXP II or a GMT beause I like the time zone change function. The EXP II has logged as much snorkeling time as the Sub.. If I had a Solid Gold model, I might think twice in todays envoronment.

Question is will you be able to enjoy your vacation without your Rolex? I know I won't!

It depends where I am going. In general, yes, I do take a couple with no problems at all (don't even take it off for airport security). Just make sure you keep the receipts and documents that prove you purchased them in your home Country and have paid the taxes on them, just in case you get stopped, as I have.

I wear mine on vacations in the States and Europe -- but not in certain parts of Asia or Africa.

Absolutely. You bought the watch to be worn. Enjoy those life experiences and give that watch some history and character. Enjoy your vacation.

I thought a vacation was like a string of extra long weekends.
2 weeks until our vacation, and I'll be bringing a Rolex AND a Panerai.

Yes, I always take one with me.
I have normally taken my Sub Date with me, but I'm thinking the new GMT IIc may get the nod next time. The two time zones may come in handy. |

I wear my Rolex every where and any where. Isn't that the point of owning one?

I have worn my Explorer II everywhere since getting it last December, in places like Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, rural parts of Malaysia and Indonesia, Manila in the Philippines, I don't really worry. Guess it's because I'm just in slacks and t-shirt or shorts and t-shirts... Very laidback casual I am...

Leaving tomorrow for Europe, will not be back 'till the end of July.
I will be thinking of you all...lol Taking with me three watches, My 1969 Patek Calatrava, My 1947 Omega 2451 and my couple of years old Daytona white gold 116509. IF....While on vacation I will make a deal (you know me I love the chase) I will let you know what, where, and how much...just for statistical reasons. |
