Icon17 Finally - my first Rolex!

Hi all!

As I have stated elsewhere I was going to buy my first Rolex as soon as the vacation money got in. It had to be either the YM ss/plat or the SS GMT IIc. Having seen lots of pictures here, and seen both watches at my AD earlier, I was almost set on the YM. However I would like to take another look at the GMT just to be sure, and the AD had sold the last one so I had to wait a feew weeks.

Last monday the AD called and told me they had received a big package from Rolex, among them the GMT.

I rushed in to the AD with my two daughters to take a quick look at the GMT and confirm the YM buy. However something strange happened! The YM suddenly looked dull. Nice but a bit dull. The GMT on the other hand looked smashing. My daughter that had worked hard to push me towards the YM said she thougt the GMT looked a lot better on me than the YM. Even the AD admitted that although she usually didn't favour the GMT it lokked grait on me.

So what can a man do? I just looked in the mirror and had to agree: The GMT looked stunning!

I have to say I have not regrett the decision a second! The black dial and the polished center links makes an ideal combination of a mans watch with a touch of bling.

First day it lost 5 seconds. After that it has lost 1.5 seconds a day! Right out of the box I can't begin to describe how happy I am with this choice

Becaurse the AD just had got a lot of new watches I was able to try on a lot of wathces, among them the SS blue sub, SS black sub, TT GMT IIc and TT YM. However none of them "sang" to me like the SS GMT IIc
Below are some pictures (please excuse the quality of the pictures):

All the best!

Bardm, Congrats on the new addition to the family The GMT C II is without a question of a doubt one of the most beautiful Rolex watches ever made. The photographs are first class and the watch looks great on your wrist. Wear it in good health.

PS I am still trying to convince the wife that I need one

The watch looks really great with the blue shirt.

The first time you get a Rolex, you walk out through the AD's door with your feet hardly touching the ground. It is a great feeling.

Enjoy

Congrats and welcome to the GMTIIc club. I know you won't regret that choice. The bad thing is, in about 2 weeks you're going to want to add another Rolex and begin a collection. There's just something in the steel that absorbs into your bloodstream to make you crave more.
